Albany Recording Studio – The Sanctuary Powered by Monster Energy Bahamas

Furnished & Installed Impact Rated Glazed Aluminum Curtain Walls, Acoustic Glazing

The luxurious Albany Resort & Marina–founded by Joe Lewis along with Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, and Justin Timberlake–sits on the southern shore of Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, and features an unparalleled array of scenery, architecture, amenities, and service. The most prominent site at Albany Marina is The Sanctuary, a state-of-the-art recording studio that has welcomed well-known artists like Alicia Keys and Shania Twain as well as university music students from around the world.

In a unique international endeavor, Tull partnered with The Sanctuary and internationally acclaimed Danish architect Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), to create an open exterior facade featuring rectangular segments and floor-to-ceiling architectural windows. These rectangular segments stack to create a one-of-a-kind, wavelike roof line. The project required extensive coordination with the construction to design the building in harmony with the architectural metal and glass to perform in the manner required to provide the necessary building exterior profiles, energy performance, mechanical needs, and hurricane impact requirements of this eccentric structure. Tull also used liberal glazing throughout the interior in order to channel a more communal experience among musicians in the various studios. The glazing was carefully designed to maintain openness within the studio without compromising acoustic quality.
